RACES


We are going to be having four primary races. We will have the wildwater classic, the long WWOCD race, a sprint, and youth races. Wildwater offers the age classes u14, u18, u23, open, and masters. We will offer the usual, wide range of and and boat classes for the WWOCD nationals.

WILDWATER CLASSIC

Salida to Salida East

The Wildwater classic will be from the river left slalom put-in above the white water park to the grassy bench on river right at the end of Salida East. It takes 15-30 minutes and runs around 2 miles. There are three small features at the beginning. There is a reasonable Sized eddy at the end of Salida East. This race is the 8:00 race and will have one wildwater class running each morning Thursday, Friday, and Sunday (K1, C1, C2).

WWOCD LONG DOWNRIVER

Bandstand to Salida East

The long race runs about 5 miles and generally takes 45-60 minutes to complete. course will be from the walk way on river right below the bandstand to the grassy bench on river right at the end of Salida East This race will have the standard WWOCD age classes and boat classes, open canoe and decked boats.

SPRINT

ball field to Salida

WWOCD sprints will be from the ball field to the top of the Office Wave. It will offer the standard WWOCD age classes and boat classes. Wildwater sprints will be from the ball field to the finish line above the bridge. This means all sprints will start from the same place, but the finishes for wildwater versus WWOCD differ.

YOUTH

Salida to Stock yard bridge

The youth course will be from the walkway below the band shell to the stock yard bridge. The take out will be at the stock yard bridge.

Races: Activities

FRIENDSHIP CRUISE

To celebrate the trek which many of our competitors have made, there will be a relaxed river run from the bottom of Bear Creek Rapid to Rincon. We will meet at the bottom of Bear Creek Rapid at 9:00 on Sunday to rig boats and set shuttle. We hope to see everyone there.
